16th Children Christmas Party Report (Held on Dec. 17, 2017 at John Harris HS)
Thank you note and event status report
Dear Estamos Unidos sponsors, committee members, volunteers and supporters.
On Dec. 17, 2017 Estamos Unidos de Pennsylvania (EUP) hosted successfully the 16th Children Christmas Party, a day of giving and sharing. EUP is an organization created to “Provide our community avenues to advance, enrich and better their lives through education, leadership, and social skills. To provide cultural awareness through the arts, traditions, and family values and assist our community, especially our Hispanic students through the integration process in to the community at large”.
Close to 600 children registered for this event, at least 565 children received gifts and at least 1,200 children and their families (siblings, parents and family members) and volunteers participated of this this magnificent event. There were at least 150 volunteers (between Saturday community service and Sunday Children Christmas party). Thanks to all supporters and sponsors who helped to provide many children the opportunity to share their culture, traditions and faith. More importantly, this gesture provide also the chance to share a meal, engage in a casual conversation or participate in a program created to entertain and amuse attendees.
As the saying goes, “When one gets more, one should give more”. Therefore, when ones is blessed, it is great to share those blessings with others. The opportunity to see kids smiling, parents being thankful and volunteers feel fulfilled is priceless. The EUP Children Christmas party started in 2002 and it has been continued thanks to the efforts made by many volunteers who recognize the power of giving and the benefits of sharing.
It is a privilege to live in a community that celebrates their joyful traditions with others. EUP expresses its deep gratitude to all the people involved in this worthy cause. One of the highlights of this year’s event, in addition of having band performers, individual artists and great talented musicians, were “Dante”, “Los Monstros”, “Itzi the Clown”, “Elsa” from Frozen and the long-expected “Santa Claus”. Finally, a nice gesture was the delivery for the first time of the “EUP Lifetime Community Service Award” given to an extraordinary human being and wonderful community service leader, Mr. Graham Hetrick. Thanks EUP for what you do.
More importantly, THANK YOU! To all volunteers and particularly those who donate toys, time or financial resources. There is always time for everything and we would like to use this time to thank you all Volunteers, sponsors, entertainers, donors, EUP board and leadership for organizing another great event. We had a debrief meetings and we are planning and even better event for 2018.
We also extend our gratitude to: Toys for Tots; Deloitte; New York Life; Performance Care; DC Work Release; Panera Bread; Dunkin Donuts; Dauphin County Commissioners; Hamilton Health Center; John Harris High School; Day Spring Recovery House; Los Monstros; Capital Region Literacy Council; and all EUP volunteers.
THANK YOU!
Many blessing to all of you. We hope to keep your continue support in 2018.
Sincerely,
Hector Ortiz and Marisol Aviles de Ortiz
