Jonathan Pesantez was born and raised in New York City. His father was born and raised in Ecuador and his mother has strong Cuban roots as her mother was born and raised there. Jonathan attended the Little Red School House & Elizabeth Irwin High School (LREI) with the support of the Oliver Scholars program which assists minority students in New York City gain admission into private high schools. Jonathan is currently a junior at Franklin and Marshall College and he is also on the baseball team. He is a Biology major and an Applied Mathematics minor and plans on attending medical school after he graduates.
Larry Vega Jr.
Larry Vega was the Valedictorian for the Dauphin County Technical School Class of 2017. Larry is credentialed with a certification in copper-based network cabling and a SkillsUSA District Winner in electronics. He served as Vice‐President of the National Honor Society, Student Ambassador, Student Mentor, and Student Math Tutor. Demonstrating his great commitment and focus to scholarship, Larry has earned Distinguished Honors each marking period for all four years, and has been recognized as student of the month. Larry was also selected for the 2016 RYLA Youth Leadership Conference, focusing on leadership development. He also utilized his skills, knowledge, and teamwork abilities over the years as a member of the Normality Zero Robotics Team. Larry attends Messiah College to pursue a degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Ismerai Miranda is a graduate of the Latino Hispanic American Community Center (LHACC) 2017 LISTO Program. As a LISTO participant, she has been a key participant in the development of computer apps related to Smoking Cessation and Prevention of Youth Crime and Delinquency. She is a member of “A Force for Health,” and recently her LISTO Class was nationally recognized for their accomplishments. Since starting school, Ismerai has never missed being on the school honor roll. She is a senior at SciTech High School where she is a Safe School Ambassador; a member of the International Club, and a member of the National Honor Society. Ismerai holds a 3.7 GPA. Upon completing high school, Ismerai plans to attend Elizabethtown College and major in accounting.
Lucero Figueroa currently is a senior at SciTech High School. She has participated in the Robotics Club, the “EPI” Program, and is a member of the International Club. Lucero is a graduate of the Latino Hispanic American Community Center (LHACC) 2016 LISTO Program. Since completing LISTO, Lucero has been working at the LHACC where she assists with translations, the LISTO program, and many LHACC community outreach events such as the annual LHACC block party, and the LHACC children’s Christmas Party. Lucero also helps to promote the Center’s programs and services.
Lucero and her family immigrated to the United States 7 years ago. She proudly will be joining two of her siblings with being the first generation in her family to attend college. After graduation, Lucero Figueroa plans to attend Millersville University to complete course work in secondary education and pre-law.
