It is with bittersweet feelings that I write to you today to communicate my upcoming departure from the EUP leadership. There have been some recent changes in both my personal and professional life that will require me to dedicate less time to activities outside of work, and as much as I would like to continue leading this great organization, I am no longer able to dedicate the time it requires.
I want you to know that leading this organization for the past year has been an incredible experience, and I have no words to express how thankful I am to the many volunteers, board members, sponsors, mentors, committee chairs, and friends who have selflessly donated their time and expertise to the goodwill and advancement of our community. Together, we changed the lives of many families, kids and adults, and especially our students and young professionals, who are in extreme need of support and mentoring in these challenging times.
EUP has had a very successful year, and I am proud to have been part of the team that made this possible. In 2016, we expanded our partnerships with local organizations who share our mission. We became stronger and more visible in the community though our events and online presence. And finally, we reached amazing fundraising goals, setting us up for success for the years to come. Once again, thanks for making this possible, with your donations, your time, your presence, and your generosity. I have learned a lot from each and everyone of you, and I will continue to be at your side while I prepare for the next steps in my life and career.
Finally, I wanted to let you know that moving forward, our board member Amanda Batista-Brgulja, who has been with our organization for several years and one of the most knowledgeable members we have in our committees, and who has led multiple EUP events including the gala, fiesta del nino, annual picnic, etc, will continue to lead the organization as interim President. My last day as President of EUP will be January 31, 2017; and Amanda will take the lead and responsibilities from that day on.
Please join me in welcoming Amanda as the new interim EUP President and in thanking her for her willingness to serve on this role. All EUP members are invited to the 2017 Annual meeting, to be held on Tuesday, January 31 at 6:30pm at Harrisburg Mall food court. An agenda for the meeting will be sent shortly by Treasurer Maria Tran and Secretary Shelley Beyar, and all paid members will be able to vote on decisions and plans for the upcoming year.
Once again, THANK YOU! I did not think saying goodbye would be so hard. I will miss you deeply. Serving EUP as President has been one of the greatest honors I ever had, and I look forward to continue to help as an advisor and member of the community.
Muchas gracias EUP Familia!!!
